The Oswego County Health Department reported that the eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus was found in two pools of mosquitoes collected during the week of July 15. One sample was collected at Toad Harbor/Big Bay Swamp in West Monroe and the second was taken from the northeast section of the Town of Palermo.
Harborfest was rain-free Thursday night. Saturday and Sunday look nice. It’s today that is a bit “iffy.”
Nearly idyllic weather greeted the large crowd at Thursday night’s opening of Harborfest #24. There were a few clouds; but other than that everything went like a well-oiled machine – thanks in large part to The Machine performing Pink Floyd.
Unemployment in Oswego County shot back up in June after several months of declines.
The jobless rate rose half a percentage point from May to June, to 9.9%. It was 10.2% a year ago.
There wasn’t any rain yesterday. Let’s hope it’s a dry Harborfest this weekend.
There will be a meeting Aug. 4 for all people interested in forming an advocacy group for the proposed new dog park. The meeting will be from 7-8 p.m. at the McCobie Building on Lake Street.
