Hannibal Administrators Outline Worst-Case Possibilities for Budget Cuts

No sports. No band, chorus or theater. No junior prom, no homecoming, no clubs. No specialized art classes. Fewer electives in the high school and class sizes up to 27 in the elementary school. No kindergarten.

That’s the blackest of the many dark visions of the immediate future of one of the state’s poorest school districts as it works to cover state aid cuts for next year’s budget.

Oswego County Sheriff’s Department is one of the 18 out of the state’s 62 counties that qualified for civil accreditation, according to Peter Kehoe, counsel and executive director of the NYS Sheriffs’ Association. A Richland man was arrested three times Monday, bringing his total for the last month to five arrests.

Dustin L. Butchino, 20, of North Fernwood Rd. Bldg. 205, Richland, was charged in connection with three alleged crimes around the county in August, 2010.
