County Approves Budget With Tax Rate Reduction
Oswego County residents will see another decrease in their taxes next year. When first proposed this fall, the 2011 budget contained a tax rate of $7.02 per $1,000 of assessed value, down slightly from this year’s $7.16. The tax rate in the budget adopted Thursday night is $6.99. Some legislators, however, are concerned about using projected revenues to offset costs within the spending plan.
Authorities Deem Fatal Scriba Fire ‘Accidental’
The preliminary cause of Wednesday night’s fatal fire has been determined to be accidental – during the food preparation in Apartment B. A 25-year-old man died in the blaze.
