County Approves Budget With Tax Rate Reduction
Oswego County residents will see another decrease in their taxes next year. When first proposed this fall, the 2011 budget contained a tax rate of $7.02 per $1,000 of assessed value, down slightly from this year’s $7.16. The tax rate in the budget adopted Thursday night is $6.99. Some legislators, however, are concerned about using projected revenues to offset costs within the spending plan.

Hannibal Board Approves Superintendent’s Retirement
Hannibal’s Board of Education approved the retirement of Superintendent of Schools Mike DiFabio Wednesday night, a formality that comes as the district is already engaged in finding his successor.
The board’s vote was unanimous and came without comment.
