Hannibal High School’s last French class ever is not going well.
Students and parents complained to the Board of Education Wednesday night that the way the class is being taught is endangering the excellent grades of students in their critical junior year.
A short list on this holiday. It includes a setback for Indian tribes in the state, begbugs on campus and a new Governor in prison.
Oswego County residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on the proposed 2011 spending plan at 7 p.m. Dec. 9. . A couple attempts to create more savings at Wednesday’s legislature meeting failed. Plans to purchase 12 new vehilces for the sheriff’s department and new furniture for the DSS moved forward.
Spokesperson Jill Lyon said that at about 10:56 a.m. Wednesday, a main steam isolation valve closed on its own. The malfunction caused the reactor to begin an automatic and orderly shutdown.
Lyon said the shutdown went according to plan and the plant is in “a safe and stable condition.”
The state has suspended the license of an Oswego physician.
Dr. David Granoff, an ear, nose and throat specialist, has agreed to an indefinite suspension.
The state is shutting down its central registry of dogs at the end of this year, one of many changes brought on by budget cuts.
The registry is going away, but the need to register dogs has not gone away.

The district is in its third year of this continuing program. It is basically a calendar-based system of collecting information so teachers are actually writing down month by month what they are teaching … it’s a way of collecting information in real time, what is being taught in every single grad level.
