District Finds Lots of Holes in New Teacher Assessment Plan

Starting next school year, teachers will be described by one of four phrases. The right phrase could lead to tenure, promotion and more money. The wrong phrase could lead to a denial of tenure or even dismissal.

Fulton City School District personnel administrator Tom Greer gave the Board of Education a look at the new rules for performance reviews, which became law in June as part of several changes made by the state to qualify for federal funds in the competitive Race To The Top grant program.

Crowds Sated With Tastes Of Oswego

Bill Hubel, owner of the Blue Moon Grill in Fulton is hard at work at this year's "Taste."

Hundreds of visitors were able to sample the flavor of the Port City Sunday afternoon. A variety of area restaurants and others took part in the 2010 edition of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of Oswego, sponsored by Alliance Bank. A myriad food was available for all to sample – including a school lunch.

EEE Found in Horse in Oswego County

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today announced the State’s first confirmed equine case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis, also known as EEE, this year. The affected horse was a two-year old gelding kept in Oswego County. EEE is a rare viral disease of horses and humans that is spread by infected mosquitoes. To date, there have been no reported or confirmed human cases of EEE in 2010.
