Fulton Sells Another Tax-Foreclosed Home at a Small Profit

A third city-owned house has been sold, for more than it was worth.

The city seized 862 West First St. in April, 2009 for unpaid property taxes. It’s a one-family home, 1,300 square feet, with three bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms.

The home is assessed at $62,000. It was listed for sale at $74,900. It sold for $79,000.

Syracuse Man Arrested in Fulton for DWI Under Leandra’s Law

Fulton Police announced Monday the arrest and ticketing of a man under Leandra’s Law, which makes it a felony to drive drunk when a child is in the car.

Police allege they stopped Jeffrey J. Bryant’s car for going 41 miles an hour in a 30 mile an hour zone on the Broadway bridge.  In the car with him were an adult woman and a three month old child.

Nuclear Regulators Ask For Scientific Study of Cancer Rates Near Nuke Plants

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has asked the National Academy of Sciences to update its first study on the risk of cancer for people who live near nuclear power plants.

The updated study would look at cancer rates around the Nine Mile Point nuclear plants, as well as cancer rates at every other nuclear facility in the country.

Second Warders Express Frustration

Dozens of Second Ward residents share their opinions with  representatives of the police department as well as their alderman at a  neighborhood meeting.

People living in Oswego’s Second Ward are fed up with the noise, vandalism, foul language and overall bad behavior of some of the youth in the area. Residents held a meeting with their alderman and representatives of the police department to let their feelings be known. Another meeting will be held to address the issues and what can be done to solve the problems.
