There was no mistaking their message: Don’t close Fort Ontario. Today’s rally wasn’t an ending, it’s just the start they all said of the fight to save the important piece of Oswego County and the nation’s history.

Students from Volney Elementary School’s orchestra this week presented a mini-concert to members of the Fulton Board of Education.
They came to remind people that it’s Music In Our Schools month, the month when school bands, orchestras and choruses put on performances to highlight their achievements.
Legislature Affirms Opposition To Wind Farm Project
The Oswego County Legislature voted Thursday to oppose a New York Power Authority project that would locate dozens of huge wind turbines in Lake Ontario. The vote was 20-4-1. Nearly 30 members of the Oswego County and surrounding area spoke about the pros and cons of the project for about two hours before the vote.
Letter: Help Defend Against The New Attack On Fort Ontario
Writes Chuck Harrington: “The Fort is again under siege – not by an armada assembled by a foreign enemy, but one of our own making. Budget cuts in Albany, spurred by an era of fiscal irresponsibility, have led us to the real possibility of losing a site that holds such a rich history, and many stunning tales of bravery.”
A rally to try to preserve the Fort is scheduled for Sunday.
