Attorney: Hoefer’s Right To Free Speech Was ‘Trashed’
When Middletown school board president Will Geiger refused to let Fran Hoefer speak at the March 4 school board meeting, he violated the spirit of Open Meetings Law, according to the state’s expert on the subject. At a press conference today, Civil Rights lawyer Michael Sussman drove home that point even further. He claims the Middletown board and its superintendent (former Oswego superintendent) Dr. Kenneth Eastwood should apologize to Hoefer and invite him back.

State Regents Could Cut Most Regents Exams Today
The state Board of Regents today may eliminate 13 of 16 Regents exams and end translations into any foreign language other than Spanish.
The only exams left would be one exam each in math, English and science. Exams would be given only once a year. The January and August exams would be eliminated.

Hannibal School Board Passes On Land Buy
The Hannibal school district will say “thanks, but no thanks” to an offer to buy a piece of land that’s been an issue for decades.
The Board of Education last week decided to pass on the offer after months of study.

Serious Injury MVA In Oswego Investigated
On Saturday at approximately 11:57 p.m., city police responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on Route 481 near Churchill Road in the city of Oswego. A 19-year-old Oswego man is listed in critical condition, and a 21-year-old college student is listed in stable condition. The investigation is continuing
