Superintendent of Schools Mike DiFabio told the Board of Education Monday night that planning is underway for dealing with the need to shut down wings of each school building when it’s time to replace windows and some ceiling tiles.
The district hopes to begin work in April, 2010.
Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava faced the music Monday for her decision to endorse a Democrat in the race for Congress after Republicans all but abandoned her candidacy.
Scozzafava was removed as Leader Pro Tempore of the Assembly’s Republican conference. Minority leader Brian Kolb said in a statement that Scozzafava stepped down voluntarily.

A package of reforms aimed at improving health care coverage for Americans passed the House of Representatives by just 5 votes, 220-215. Owens cast one of those votes to approve the legislation.
Thursday, they okayed holding a public hearing on the plan to blend the two jobs. The jobs are spelled out in the city Charter and Code. Changes to the Charter require a public hearing before the Council can vote.
