Oswego County Resident Dies Of Eastern Equine Encephalitis
The Oswego County Health Department confirmed today (Sept. 15) that an Oswego County resident who was ill with Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) has died. Two earlier cases of human EEE in New York State were also fatal. One occurred in 1971 and the other was in 1983.

After Nathan Wienk’s Guilty Plea, School District Decides Whether He Keeps A Job
Because Nathan Wienk neither admitted guilt to the original charge nor was found not guilty of all charges, the outcome of the court case puts the onus on the school district’s internal investigation to decide Wienk’s future with the school.
“It’s certainly a cause for concern,” Superintendent of Schools Bill Lynch said of Monday’s plea. “But I don’t want to get ahead of myself.”

State Troopers Take The Stand In Jones Case
Two members of the State Police testified today (Sept. 14) regarding their interaction with Alan Jones last August. They explained what Jones told them regarding his stepsister’s death. However, when they gave opinions in their answers, the defense objected. The jury can’t hear opinions regarding Jones’ demeanor because it is not part of the theory of the crime, the judge explained.

Oswego Fire Department Responds To Gas Leak
The Oswego Fire Dept responded to a natural gas Leak at the intersection of East First and Oneida streets 10:42 a.m. today (Sept. 14). A construction worker working with heavy equipment struck the 4-inch high-pressure gas line, causing the release of natural gas.

Teacher Pleads Guilty To Lower Charge In Photo Case
Nathan Wienk, an art teacher at Fulton Junior High School, pleaded guilty today in Fulton City Court to a reduced charge of harassment. His guilty plea avoided a trial on charges he used his cell phone camera to take pictures of female colleagues without their knowledge.

The Oswego Marching Bucs posted a solid 74.25 at this past weekend’s Jordan-Elbridge show. It’s the season-opened for the Marching Bucs. They were the only unit competing in the National class at J-E. They’re performing a show called “The Search”.
