Mayor Billy Barlow announced today (June 5) the city of Oswego has secured grant funding from New York State to replace the East Seneca Street Bridge. The funding is provided by the Five Year Capital Program Update Call for New Local Projects by the New York State Department of Transportation for 2019-24.

Mayor Billy Barlow announces the 2019 paving project will start Wednesday June 5 in the city of Oswego. Mayor Barlow also announced the original paving plan has been expanded to include more streets throughout the city, with a focus on the city’s east side.

Lake Ontario has reached 75.90 m (249.02 ft), exceeding the record peak of 75.88 m (248.95 ft) set in 2017, and will continue rising gradually over the next several days, the the International Joint Commission reported today (June 3).
But, is expected to reach this year’s peak within one to three weeks.

Members of the Oswego community gathered Saturday, June 1, at Fort Ontario to celebrate the history of Ludwig Bemelmans, author of the children’s book series, “Madeline,” while he was stationed there during World War I.
