Author Farfaglia Recalls Sweet Days and Bitter End Of Nestle in Fulton

Some may say it’s biter-sweet. Local author Jim Farfaglia’s latest tome is Nestlé in Fulton, New York: How Sweet It Was. It will be published November 26 by Arcadia/The History Press. In 1898, Switzerland’s Nestle Company was searching for a location to build its first milk processing plant in the United States. Upstate New York’s bountiful dairy farms sealed the deal for a factory in Fulton.

Mayor Barlow Appoints Zachary Misztal as Deputy Police Chief

Mayor Billy Barlow is pleased to announce the promotion of Police Lieutenant Zachary Misztal to the rank of Deputy Police Chief. Misztal, a 15-year veteran of the Oswego City Police Department, has served as a Lieutenant with the department since 2013 and was most recently assigned as the Criminal Investigations Division Commander for the department.

‘Social Host’ Law Approved By Oswego Council

The Common Council voted unanimously Monday night to approve the city’s new “Social Host” law. It makes it unlawful for any person older than the age of 18 who owns, rents, or otherwise controls a private residence, to knowingly allow the consumption of alcohol, alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs by any minor (younger than the age of 21) on such premises or to fail to take reasonable corrective action upon learning of the consumption of alcohol, alcoholic beverages or use of illegal drugs by any minor on such premises.

Pathfinder Bank Purchases Former OCSD Education Center

Oswego City School District Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey is pleased to announce the sale of the district’s former Education Center to Pathfinder Bank. The building, purchased by the district in 1993, was placed back on the market by Dr. Goewey and the district in 2016 so the district could enter an era of restructuring and consolidation.
