Fulton Council Changes Next Meeting Date, Public Hearing Scheduled

The Fulton Common Council has changed its next regular council meeting date from Tuesday, November 6 to be held the following day on Wednesday, November 7 as to not interfere with Tuesday’s general election. Following the public comment portion opening the meeting, a public hearing is scheduled to take place regarding a proposed amendment to Chapter 640 of City Code entitled “Zoning” regarding taxicab companies.

Ex-Drug Vehicle Refurbished As City’s ‘DARE Car’

Mayor Billy Barlow. is proud to announce that the Oswego City Police Department has designated a “DARE Car” for use by the department in delivering the DARE curriculum to schools in and around the city of Oswego. The vehicle, a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, was forfeited to the Oswego City Police Department through the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office as the result of a guilty conviction stemming from a recent illegal drug case.

City of Fulton and Fire Department Reach Contract Agreement

The City of Fulton and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3063, the union representing Fulton Fire Department, have reached a contract agreement. A resolution unanimously approved by the Fulton Common Council determines salary increases throughout the department for the years of 2018, 2019 and 2020. The department will receive 0.5 percent increase in 2018, one percent increase in 2019, and one percent increase in 2020.

Committee Moves Ahead With Oswego ‘Social Host Law’ Proposal

At its meeting Monday night, the Planning and Development Committee sent a resolution regarding a tentative Social Host Law to the full council for consideration. Council vice president Kevin Hill brought the proposal to the committee for discussion. It is in response to young people, college students and others, migrating from the downtown bars to large house parties in residential neighborhoods, he explained.
