Councilor Hill Proposes Social Host Law to Assist OPD in Efforts to Improve Quality of Life for City Residents

Earlier this week, Third Ward Councilor Kevin Hill requested a briefing by Oswego Police and SUNY Oswego Police on strategies currently being employed to address disruption and disorder in city neighborhoods. Councilor Hill took the opportunity to point to several issues that he has become aware of through constituent communication and personal observation, as well as identifying specific locations that generate concern from area residents, for special attention by law enforcement in the coming weeks.

Neighbors of ‘Problem House’ Offered Insight From City Officials

Last week, an entire first ward neighborhood came together to express fear for their safety and frustration in their dropping quality of life, allegedly stemming from a “problem house” in their neighborhood. In response, Fulton Police Chief Orlo Green III and FPD Investigator Stephen Lunn joined Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and members of the Fulton Common Council to address misinformation and answer questions from neighbors in the West Second Street and Phillips Street area. The house in question, 102 W. Second St., is an owner-occupied multi-family property.

Oswego Pair Facing Felony Drug Charges

On Tuesday September 25, at approximately 3:19 p.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the Oswego City Police Department, executed a narcotics related search warrant on a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, and its occupants, as it traveled northbound on State Route 481 within the city of Oswego. As a result of the search warrant executions, approximately 14.2 grams of crack cocaine was located and seized, according to police. Two people were charged.
