The Oswego County Legislature reminds residents about the 211 CNY Program which provides referrals to thousands of different agencies and organizations throughout Central and Northern New York. “The 211 CNY program is a valuable tool for residents who need assistance with human services or for those looking for information about the variety of resources available to them,” said Oswego County Legislature Chairman Shane Broadwell

At approximately 2:15 p.m. today (August 19), the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-car fatal motor vehicle accident in the town of Amboy. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A male passenger was transported to Upstate Hospital, Syracuse, with non-life threatening injuries, deputies said.

In an effort to ensure every child is prepared for school, the United Way of Greater Oswego County held its annual “Stuff a Bus” campaign recently at different bus locations around the county. The school supplies will now be divided among the nine districts in the coming days.

In an effort to reduce the population of mosquitoes carrying the Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus, the Oswego County Health Department plans to conduct aerial spraying of approximately 10,000 acres in portions of the towns of Hastings, West Monroe and Constantia Monday evening, Aug. 20. Mosquito samples recently collected from the Toad Harbor Swamp in West Monroe have tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus, and a horse in West Monroe died of the virus Aug. 9.

On Sunday, August 12, State Police responded to a report of suspicious persons in the town of Orwell. When Troopers arrived, they discovered a “meth lab” located at a campsite on state land off Dam Road, according to the police report.
