New York Sea Grant will host a Managing Great Lakes Residential Shorelines workshop for the owners of residential property along the shoreline of Oswego, Cayuga, Wayne and Monroe counties on June 13 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Fair Haven Beach State Park, Sabin Hall, 14985 State Park Road, Sterling, NY.
The Administrative Services Committee gave a favorable recommendation Monday night to Mayor Billy Barlow’s request for council approval to execute a grant agreement with the state. “This is $600,000 we set aside to help small businesses downtown, Mayor Barlow said. He’ll host two informational sessions on Tuesday (May 22); one from 5 to 6 p.m. and the other from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Oswego Canal Commons Conference Room at 197 W. First St. The public is invited.
U.S. Rep. John Katko today (May 21) announced the creation of two education advisory boards in order to gain valuable input on legislative priorities from Central New York educators. The first advisory board is focused on primary and secondary education throughout Wayne, Cayuga, Onondaga, and Oswego counties. The second is focused on higher education and includes representatives from every higher education facility in the district.

Mayor Billy Barlow today (May 18) announced the results of the 10-day code enforcement “blitz” from May 7 to 17 in the first and third wards in the city of Oswego. The blitz was designed to prevent stockpiling and junk accumulation in front of rental properties as students moved out at the end of the college semester and citizens started their Spring cleaning routine.
Several hundred eager special education student athletes traveled to Phoenix Central School District to participate in the 2018 Oswego County Olympiad. As the bleachers filled with fans roaring in support, students of all ages, developmental and physical abilities from ten school districts in Oswego County joined together to compete in several track and field events.

City residents pay for the pool through their property taxes and charging Oswego families again to use the pool is duplicative and unnecessary,” Barlow said.
