Harborfest Announces Fireworks Sponsorships, Entertainment

Oswego Harborfest today (April 5) announced a new multi-year agreement with its new Grucci Fireworks sponsors – Exelon Generation and Pathfinder Bank. Entertainment for the festival also announced. Headliners include Don Felder (formerly of the Eagles), Almost Queen, Changes in Latitude and more. This year, Harborfest is scheduled for July 26 through 29. “Breitbeck Park will be rocking opening night with all of Queen’s hits. The sing-along of Bohemian Rhapsody will be a moment you don’t want to miss,” the president of the festival’s board said.

Stricter Regulations and Fines for Fulton Landlords

The Fulton Common Council targeted landlords with amendment to city charter. An amendment of Subsection C152(J) of the City Charter entitled Housing maintenance; rental permits added stricter regulations and fines for landlords. Under new law, landlords will not be permitted new or renewed rental permits if they are in violation of any city code or owe unpaid property taxes, water and sewer bills, or fees of any nature owed to the City of Fulton. Any landlord that does not obtain a rental permit will accrue a $200 fine each month until such permit is obtained. Any landlord that does not live within the city will be required to designate a property manager residing within 25 miles. Each month that a property manager remains undesignated, landlords will accrue a $200 fine.

State DOT Begins Intersection Improvement Project On Route 481

New York State Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner Paul A. Karas today (April 3) announced that construction has begun on a $1.9 million project to improve safety on State Route 481 at County Route 45 in the town of Volney. The project will reconfigure the intersection to allow only right turns onto Route 481.

Port City Moves Ahead With Dock Replacement Plan

At Monday night’s meeting of the Administrative Services Committee Tom Kells, DPW commissioner, requested a general budget amendment and authorization to purchase new dockage for the International Marina. Several of the docks have reached the end of their lifespan and have been severely damaged. The request totals $58,343.21 for 10 units plus shipping and handling, he said.

Hastings Man Charged With Arson, Other Charges

A Hastings resident is facing felony arson charges as well as other charges following a fire that destroyed a residence, a garage and two vehicles. David T. Wendt, 36, of 149 CR 38, Hastings, was arrested Sunday at 5:03 a,m. He allegedly lit a pair of pants on fire causing a garage along with the belongings inside, including two vehicles and residence to be destroyed.
