Masons’ Breakfast To Benefit Canal Play

On Sunday a pancake breakfast to support the Erie Canal Bicentennial Theater Play will be held at Lake City Lodge, 765 E. Seneca St. Serving will be from 8 a.m. until noon. The city approved the “Erie Canal Bicentennial Theater Play” to take place in Oswego on the canal. The Masons are major sponsors funding the performance along with Canal Corp, Pathfinder and the city of Oswego.

Fulton District Officials Announce 2017 Election Results

The Fulton City School District held a special meeting tonight (May 17) to announce the 2017 election results.

After Fulton voters took to one polling place for the first time, all casting their votes at the Fulton War Memorial on Tuesday, May 16, the votes have been tallied and the results have been determined. Due to a circumstance in which only two candidates ran for three vacant seats on the board of education, district officials were delayed in their announcement after seeking guidance from district attornies, Superintendent Brian Pulvino said.

The City of Fulton Police Department will join local and national law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates all across the country for the 2017 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization, May 22 through June 4. During the mobilization, officers will be cracking down on motorists who fail to wear their seat belts, both during the day and night.

2 Newcomers and 1 Incumbent Gain Oswego BOE Seats; Budget Approved

Voters approved Oswego City School District’s budget for 2017-18 school year by an unofficial vote of 1,503 to 700. They also elected Brian Chetney, Sam Tripp and Brandon Lagoe to fill the three open seats on the board of education. Newcomer Chetney was the top vote-getter with an unofficial tally of 1,484. He was followed by incumbent Tripp with 1,403 and newcomer Lagoe with 1,142.

Barclay and Oaks Push for Legislation Assisting Lakeshore Residents

Assemblyman Will Barclay and Assemblyman Robert C. Oaks have joined efforts to draft new legislation to address property damages incurred as a result of flooding and record high water levels on Lake Ontario. According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, over the past six weeks nearly 4 trillion gallons of rain water has flowed into Lake Ontario. Unfortunately for lakeside communities, the lake level is projected to rise.

Police: Liverpool Man Abducts, Robs and Sexually Assaults Woman

Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday an Oswego County woman was attempting to make a right turn onto John Glenn Blvd from northbound Oswego Road when her vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection. She attempted to get out to check on him; he forced her door shut and proceeded to jump in the back seat of her vehicle, police said today (May 13). Once inside the vehicle, the male claimed he was armed, demanded money and forced her to drive him to a nearby apartment complex parking lot where he proceeded to sexually assault her, according to the police report.
