Fulton, Firefighters Headed to Interest Arbitration

Labor agreement negotiations between the city of Fulton and the International Association of Firefighters, the union representing the city’s firefighters, have remained at a standstill. Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. said the next step is to enter into interest arbitration, scheduled to begin in late June.

Oswego Man charged in car-pedestrian hit and run accident

State Police have charged 47-year-old Timothy J. Oleyourryk, of Oswego, with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident without reporting, a class “E” felony. On January 6, State Police in Fulton charged Oleyourryk with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident without reporting in connection to a car-pedestrian hit and run accident that occurred on December 10, 2016.

Councilors Debate ‘Council Attorney’ proposal

A suggestion to create a “council attorney” position to avoid possible conflicts in the future was debated for about a half hour Wednesday night. Opponents say the position isn’t needed; the current system works fine. However, proponents point out that since the city attorney represents several other entities, conflicts are a real possibility.

Katko Reintroduces Legislation To Advance Designation Of Fort Ontario, Safe Haven To National Parks Status

January 3, the first day of the 115th Congress, U.S. Rep. John Katko announced that he has reintroduced legislation that he authored and passed through the House during his first term in office, the Fort Ontario Study Act. U.S. Reps. Claudia Tenney (NY-22) and Louise Slaughter (NY-25) joined Representative Katko as original cosponsors of the bill.

2017 Kicks Off: Council Selects President, Donation from County Legislator

Taking the place of former president and first ward councilor Thomas Kenyon, the council nominated and unanimously approved second ward councilor David Ritchie as president for 2017 during the first regular meeting of the new year. In other business, county legislator Frank Castiglia Jr., D-Fulton, stepped to the podium to speak to the common council at the first regular meeting of the new year. His first order of business, making a donation to the non-profit organization, Friends of Fulton Parks.
