City Rescinds Town Sewer Deal

At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council rescinded Resolution No. 379 of Oct. 11, 2016. The action, in the opinion of City Attorney Kevin Caraccioli, could leave the city open to a lawsuit. This fall, councilors had approved entering into a contract with Oswego Town regarding the Ontario Heights Water District for sewer connections to the city sewer system; in connection with a planned student housing site in the town. Some councilors say they want more control over who can hook into the city’s sewer system.

Rochester Man Charged With Possession of Crack Cocaine With Intent To Sell

On Thursday, December 8, at approximately 8:54 p.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force stopped a 2016 Blue Hyundai Sonata that was traveling eastbound on East Cayuga Street in the city of Oswego. The traffic stop was in conjunction with an ongoing drug investigation being managed by the DTF.

Traffic Stop in Syracuse Leads to Passenger Being Arrested on Drug Charges

On Friday (December 9), at approximately 11 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on Van Rennselaer Street in the city of Syracuse for a traffic violation. investigation revealed additional heroin and hypodermic needles hidden inside the vehicle.

It was determined that the heroin and hypodermic needles located all belonged to the front seat passenger, Joshua Baez-Arnold of 42 Senior Ave., Fulton.

Begin the New Year with a First Day Hike at Old Fort Ontario

On New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, at 10 a.m., Fort Ontario Superintendent Paul Lear will conduct a free 3-kilometer First Day Hike around the 262-year-old Fort Ontario Military Reservation National Register District. In observance of the centennial of the entry of the United States into World War I, the theme of the moderately-paced hike will be the fort’s service as a hospital for wounded and sick soldiers from 1917 to 1919.

State Police Seek Public’s Assistance Locating Vehicle Seen Near Hit-And-Run Accident

State Police are investigating a car-pedestrian hit-and-run accident that occurred on State Route 104 on Sunday. The accident occurred in the town of Oswego on State Route 104 near the intersection of State Route 104A. The 19-year-old victim was transported to Oswego Hospital with serious injuries, police reported.

Fulton Man Charged in Connection with North Syracuse, Camillus Bank Robbery

The Onondaga County Sheriff Office reports that Sheriff’s Detectives have charged a Fulton man in connection with the December 3 robbery of the NBT Bank in North Syracuse. A thorough investigation along with surveillance video and witness interviews, led to the arrest of James C. Caskey, 39, of Fulton.

Deadline Nears For Youth Tree Decorating Contest

The deadline for the Youth Bureau’s children’s tree decorating contest is fast approaching. Several of the miniature Christmas trees have been turned in, said Jennifer Losurdo of the Youth Bureau. But, several more are still out there, she added. Children can pick up a 12-inch tree from the Youth Bureau, at the county complex on Bunner Street, decorate it and return it no later than Dec. 13. Prizes (Wal-Mart gift cards) will be awarded to the winner of each age group.

Fulton Receives Grant for Footpaths, A First Step Toward Bigger Picture for City

The city of Fulton was one of many Oswego County municipalities that benefited from New York State Regional Economic Development Council grant money awarded Dec 8. In the city of Fulton, $61,500 was awarded for a feasibility study to determine the cost of developing eight recreational trails throughout the city of Fulton as envisioned by the volunteer group, Fulton Footpaths. However, the feasibility study and eventual construction of the trials are largely dependent on the approval of an updated Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) which a committee of city officials and volunteers have readily been working on.
