New 680 Area Code Overlay Will Require Callers to Use Area Code for All Local Calls

Oswego County E-911 director Michael Allen reminds residents that a new 680 area code overlay is being added to the geographic area served by the 315 area code. Because more than one area code will serve the same geographic area, Central New York residents who have a 315 or 680 phone number will need to enter the area code for all calls – including calls within the same area code. The new calling procedure will be required for all calls beginning Feb. 11, 2017.

Three Suspects Charged With Drug Possession Following Traffic Stop In Volney

On Tuesday (November 1), at approximately 4:20 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on State Route 3 in the town of Volney for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. The operator was found to be operating with a suspended license and without a required interlock device, according to police. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of her and 2 passengers on drug charges.

66 Years Later: Fulton Korean War Veteran Receives Grand Homecoming

An identified Korean War casualty has found his final resting place in his hometown of Fulton 66 years after his death. Cpl. Joseph Trepasso was welcomed back to his hometown by a veteran motorcade with dozens of people lining the streets in his honor throughout the entire route beginning in Syracuse.

He has joined the Peace Corps and is currently serving in Africa. “Throughout my education at Fordham University, I had spoken with several of my friends, as well as attended several career fairs, about my post-graduation life. Central New York residents are encouraged to pay their respects to a deceased Korean War veteran whose remains are being returned to Fulton on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Cpl. Joseph Trepasso of Fulton is being re-patriated back home after being identified as a casualty of the Korean War.
