Freshman Stabbed On Campus at SUNY Oswego

Authorities are searching for four suspects in connection with the stabbing of an 18-year-old freshman earlier this morning on the SUNY Oswego campus. According to the college, the teen was assaulted and stabbed four times in the shoulder outside of the Shineman Center. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where he is expected to recover.

Temporary Holiday Ice Rink Approved, Could Become Permanent

Oswego’s Civic Plaza will be transformed into an outdoor ice rink next month. And, if one councilor has his way, the plaza on the south side of Oswego City Hall just might receive a major facelift in the future. At this week’s council meeting, the mayor was authorized to execute a contract with Artificial Ice Events for the rental of the ice rink for the city’s tree lighting event in November. Later in the meeting, it was suggested the plaza could be repurposed for year-round events.

Back to the Future: Clay Removal Moving Full Steam Ahead at Oswego Speedway in Anticipation of Race of Champions Finale

The day after NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLV dropped its final checkered flag, track crews began the process of removing the 500+ loads of clay that were temporarily dumped on Oswego Speedway’s asphalt racing surface to hold ‘Racing’s Biggest Party.’ Beginning early Monday afternoon, all remaining clay is expected to be lifted from the ‘Steel Palace’ by the end of the day on Friday leaving a full two weeks for final preparations leading to the Speedway’s next on track activity.

O’Donnell Media Summit will return to Waterman Theatre at 3 p.m. Oct. 27, with an accomplished panel of Oswego-connected personalities whose work encompasses art, music, theater and communications — all four of the School of Communication, Media and the Arts’ disciplines. Oswego Council OK’s Winter Parking Plan

The Oswego council worked throughout the summer to come up with a winter parking policy that would be fair and make the majority of the residents happy. They aren’t quite there yet. However, at Monday’s meeting, they approved a policy that’s the best step going forward into the coming winter, the councilors agreed. The policy will be in effect from December 1 of each year until March 31 of the following year. It calls for no parking on residential streets from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m.; except for the downtown area where the ban is in effect 2 – 6 a.m.
