Canalview Bridge Walk Highlights New Signs, Promotes Physical Activity

More than 90 people showed up to the Canalview Bridge Walk event with at least 60 of those people walking the 1.8-mile trail across Fulton’s bridges and through some of the city’s historic downtown area. A collaboration between Oswego County Opportunities, Fulton Footpaths and the city of Fulton, the event allowed the public to walk the Canalview Bridge trail showcasing new permanent signs marking the paved trail.

Oswego District, OCTA Ink New Deal

The Oswego City School District and the Oswego Classroom Teachers Association agreed on a new one-year contract late Tuesday. The deal includes a wage freeze, Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey announced at the school board meeting Tuesday night. “Never in the history of our district have we had all four collective bargaining agreements ratified before the expiration of those contracts,” he said. “Never before in the history of our district have all four agreements been settled with salary freezes for all members.”

Oswego School District, Supporters Continue to Rally for Sports Programs

Maybe it’s not first-and-goal for the drive to restore sports in the Oswego City School District, but the effort received a huge boost Tuesday from Senator Patty Ritchie. She announced a $150,000 special grant to help rescue the sports programs that were slashed by the district in the budget process. David Gryczka, Director of P.E. and Athletics, updated the school board Tuesday night regarding the fundraising under way to help restore the sports programs.

Fulton Man Charged With Felony DWI Following Traffic Stop

On June 17, at approximately 6:23 p.m., State Police observed a speeding vehicle on State Route 48 in the town of Granby. As troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, it turned into a driveway at 4 Water Run Drive. Investigation at the scene revealed the operator, Fredrick M. Tomski, 52, of the same address, was intoxicated, police said.

Please Help Bring ‘Hoover’ Home

Recently, someone stole “Hoover” a hand-carved dog from Mexico Point Park. “Hoover” was handcrafted by a local artist and is a valuable piece of art. It is part of a project to show the history and usage of the park over the years. It is so sad that some person or persons can be so selfish and have so little respect for themselves and their community that they would steal a piece of art from their park, park staff said.
