Former Fulton Doctor Dilip Roy Accepts Guilty Plea Deal

This morning (April 21) former Fulton doctor, Dilip K. Roy accepted a plea agreement alongside his attorney in front of Oswego County Court Judge, Donald Todd. Originally indicted on two counts of rape in the third degree, Roy had previously plead not guilty to the charges. Today, Roy withdrew his previous plea and entered a guilty plea to a lesser count of sexual misconduct, a class A misdemeanor. The charges stem from a May 2015 arrest after a former patient reported that she was subjected to unwanted sexual intercourse at Roy’s family medical practice, Fast Care Family Medical located at 941 S. First Street in the town of Volney.

Julian Ross Memorial Shamrock Kids’ Run and 5K Set May 14

Children in grades K – 6 and runners of all ages are invited to run in the inaugural Julian Ross Memorial Shamrock Run on May 14. Start and finish are at the Kingsford Park Elementary School on West Fifth Street in Oswego. Julian Ross was a Kingsford Park student who lost his courageous battle with cancer this past summer, and the race is being held on what would have been his eleventh birthday.

Oswego Eyes ‘Pawn Brokers’ Law

“This is a law we’ve all considered at one time or another, at least the councilors who here before,” Mayor Billy Barlow said. “What this does is give the police department a tool. They can go down to the local pawn shops and try to track down the stolen items. It requires a store to hold an item for a certain period of time. It requires the store to document the item that they have.” There is a fee attached.

Fulton School Officials to Hold Public Hearing on Voter Propositions

Fulton City School District officials will discuss the voter propositions that will be presented this year at a public hearing to be held Wednesday, May 4 at the Education Center. The presentation will be led by Superintendent of Schools, William Lynch as well as Business Administrator for the district, Kathy Nichols and Executive Director of Instruction and Assessment, Betsy Conners. The hearing is open to all members of the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Fulton Education Center auditorium located at 167 S. Fourth Street. School officials will present on all areas of voter propositions to further explain the details of each.

Pennellville Woman arrested after domestic dispute

On April 19, 2016 at approximately 11:28 a.m., State Police responded to a residence on County Route 10 in the town of Schroeppel for a physical domestic dispute in progress. Investigation at the scene determined June M. Atkins, 49, had damaged the vehicle of a family member during the course of an argument, police said.

Central Square Man Facing Drug Possession Charges After Traffic Stop

On April 19, at approximately 12:09 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on Seventh North Street in the town of Salina for a traffic violation. The operator, Randy J. Derochie, 27, of Central Square, was found to be operating without a license, and with a suspended registration, police said.

Mexico Man Charged With Vehicular Manslaughter

On Tuesday, Douglas B. Horton, 51, of Mexico, was arrested for Vehicular Manslaughter, 1st degree, a class C felony and Aggravated DWI. The arrest follows the investigation into a one-vehicle MVA that occurred on March 26, 2016 on Rowe Road in the town of Mexico which resulted in a fatality to one of the passengers.
