Captain Heather Odom and Lieutenant Alberta Rakestraw and the members of the Oswego County Salvation Army Advisory Board offer their sincere thanks to the people of the county for their generous response to the 2018 Christmas kettle fundraising campaign.

I would like to thank Jim and Wendy Mirabito for taking on the 2018 food drive. Their staff at Save-A-Lot was great to work with.

This past weekend the wife and I took a ride up to God’s county (North Eastern Oswego County). We first went to Albion (Albion cross road). The road looked in pretty good shape, a little sand.

The appointment of friends and associates to positions of authority, without proper regard to their qualifications. Then there is the old saying “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” There are many that have issues with these types of appointments within government jobs.

Oswego Harbor Festivals, Inc., would like to thank all those who participated in our blood drive for the American Red Cross along with the donations for Human Concerns. We considered it a success, so look for us again next year. We also want to thank LaParrilla’s Grill & Wine Bar for its gift certificate donation.

Political payoffs take on different faces. This one is the face that promises future benefits during a hiring process by some elected officials. During the hiring of the Director of the Oswego County Land Bank (A private non-profit formed in 2015) the promise of a state retirement package was promised to the candidate if they accepted the position.

Thank you to those that have stopped by Save-a-Lot and donated to the food drive taking place. This food will be divided to go towards two programs. The first is Catholic Charities in order to have enough food on hand to get them through some of the rough points this winter. The second organization that will get items is the Meals on Wheels program.

Marionette: A small figure of a person operated from above with strings from a puppeteer. What we will have with the next appointment being made by the County Legislative majority caucus? In the past few weeks a very fine gentleman has stepped down from the board of the county’s IDA.
