Political Posturing!

Political Posturing definition: Taking a position on an issue strictly because it is politically advantageous to do so. For example, being against something solely because the other side is in favor of it. This past Oswego County Legislative meeting saw me being accused of Political Posturing. This is the second time in three years that I have been accused of this by the Chairman of the Legislature.

I support Colleen Deacon for Congress

I support Colleen Deacon for US Congress. Colleen wants to put the American people back to work. Colleen want to rebuild the middle class. Colleen recognizes that investing tax dollars to keep the nuclear plants open, and to keep the jobs here in Central New York has a snowball effect, earned and spent by middle class workers keeps everyone in our whole economy working.

Clean Energy Standard is Good Public Policy

In August, the NYS Public Service Commission adopted the Clean Energy Standard which included, among other things, subsidies for the upstate nuclear plants. One of those positions is Justice of the Supreme Court in 5th Judicial District. This jurisdiction covers six counties and is a mid-level judgeship in New York State, which is not to be confused with the nine positions of the United States Supreme Court in Washington DC.

What’s good for the Goose isn’t good for the Gander

On October 13 the Oswego County Legislature passed a resolution increasing the fees to attend Camp Hollis. Fees were increased for all groups, youth groups, adult groups, and individual campers. The increases may seem to be minor but to many youth and youth groups it could mean the difference in being able to attend a safe haven or staying home.

Garbage Rate Increase Hearing On Tap

There’s a public hearing on Oct. 18 to discuss the raising of garbage rates in the city of Fulton. The rates purposed are to go from $51 a quarter to $63 a quarter. That means it will go from $204 a year to $252 a year. A sticker to use the county landfill will be only $185 a year. I agree with the fact that the rates have to be raised to cover the increased tipping fees imposed by the county.
