I am helping a disabled young man who was injured in a pedestrian/vehicle accident November 19 around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of East Bridge and East First streets in Oswego, NY. With bills for ambulance, hospital etc., mounting the pedestrian is in need of witnesses to come forward to verify what happened.
A very special Thank you to Assemblyman Will Barclay and staff and to Senator Patty Richie and staff for a job well done. It took some time. A study had to be done to see whether or not an arrow was needed.
Earth Day will be celebrated around the world on Sunday, April 22. In Oswego County we are blessed with beautiful lakes and rivers, parks and wilderness areas that provide year-round recreation to residents and visitors alike. Unfortunately, too many people have gotten the impression that it’s OK to litter because someone else will be there to pick it up. The Oswego County Green Team is a volunteer group of citizens who organized a few years ago to reduce litter in Oswego County.
The Fresh Air Fund looks forward to celebrating National Volunteer Week every year. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our inspiring volunteers, hosts and supporters in the New York Lakes Region. Their dedication to our Fresh Air children truly embodies the spirit of National Volunteer Week, which is from April 15 to 21 this year. We have learned that a summer can last a lifetime.
I am very late in getting this in, due to illness. However….. even being late I wanted to make sure that I took the time to thank everyone that took part in the third annual food drive hosted by Tops Friendly Market in Fulton. Manager Jim and his crew have stepped up for the third year in a row to make sure that some of the needs in our area were met.
Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in men and women in New York State, but it doesn’t have to be. Colon cancer can be prevented through screening. Abnormal growths in the colon and rectum can be found and removed before they turn into cancer; and if found early, colon cancer is highly curable. But the key is getting screened.
On January 10, in a blink of an eye (or stub of my toe) my life changed. On that day, I fell at work and fractured and dislocated my right hip and fractured my right humorous bone of my shoulder. Not my best day.After hip replacement surgery on January 15 and a four-day stay in St. Joe’s Hospital, I was moved to rehab. I was accepted by Seneca Manor.

I want my friends and peers to know I am taking a stand against big tobacco and their manipulative marketing practices designed to entice youth. As a leader and mentor in our community, is it important for others in my position to set a positive example for these children, and to help them stay healthy.
