Oswego Hospital Hosts MASH Camp

During Oswego Hospital’s recent two-day MASH Camp, students took part in several hands-on activities as they learned about careers in the healthcare field. Teaching the youths how to suture were staff members from the hospital’s surgery center. From the left are RoseMarie Rockwell, RN; Keeleigh Mendez, of Mexico; Adrianna Quig, of Central Square; Alex Joss-Forbes, of Mexico; Alexis Hagg, of Phoenix (hidden from view); Lucinda Coffin, Physician Assistant and Erin Delaney, of Oswego.Oswego Hospital hosted its annual MASH Camp (Medical Academy of Science and Health) for two days the first week of August. Wearing their own hospital scrubs, the 18 youths, who will soon enter the eighth and ninth grades, spent time in the hospital’s lab, pharmacy, medical imaging departments, among others.

Rotarians Hear About Oswego Hospital’s Emergency Planning Efforts

At a recent Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Sharon Foster introduced Paul Vandish, Manager of Quality and Risk Management for Oswego Health. Paul's program dealt with Emergency Management as it affects Oswego Health and all residents in our area. Oswego Health cooperates with all of the other agencies and organizations in the county dealing with emergencies. Oswego Health is prepared for any emergency that may occur. Paul said that the major emergencies that he has to stay focused on are, ice and snow storms, a failure at the nuclear plants, major power outages, disease outbreaks, chemical spills, etc. The hospital has a 100% emergency power backup in all of its buildings. Fulton Sunrise Rotary meets every Friday at 7 AM at Fulton's Riverside Inn.Oswego Health cooperates with all of the other agencies and organizations in the county dealing with emergencies. Oswego Health is prepared for any emergency that may occur.
