Last week, I discovered four tiny kitten in my garage on one of those sunny days. I picked them up, brought them inside and called the Humane Society. They asked me a few questions, then they told me not to try to feed them and to return them to exactly where I found them and wait a few hours to see if the mother came back.
Trouble (with a capital T) is aptly named, but in a good way. He is a handsome young boy, lively, affectionate and totally playful. He likes to head butt his foster mom while he purrs his little heart out. He loves the other cats where he lives and he really needs to go to a home that has other cats for him to play with.
What exactly do dog control officers do anyway? I am so frustrated with the one for our town. Last year I called him about a stray cat and he said, “I don’t handle cats. Call the Humane Society.” I called him a few days ago about a dog that I think may be abused. I’m not sure what is going on and I asked him to check into it. He said, “I don’t do animal cruelty. Call the police.”
Meet Lady, a sweet, laid-back, friendly and pretty girl who spent most of the winter, we think, trying to survive in an old camper. Imagine how happy she is to be inside with a nice warm bed of her own. She gets along fine with our other office cats and likes lots of attention.

It’s a collection of online information and tools to help consumers make more informed choices at the supermarket about buying “farm animal friendly” food. There are a lot of labels used in supermarkets that may or may not mean what you would like to think.
Do you have a pug maybe? Or a bull dog? Or a big old slobbery hound? So you are used to having secretions of various sorts all over your walls and windows and wherever. Meet Autumn, a sweet, laid back, friendly and pretty girl who will only add to what you are already accustomed to. No, seriously, she has some sort of allergy/breathing issue that makes her wheezy and sneezy.
We were searching the internet for something to write about this week, The good news is that sometimes when we do that we find really cool and useful stuff. For instance . . . the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) has a free mobile app that provides a wealth of information that can help keep your pets safe year-round.
PAWS of CNY, Inc. will hold free therapy dog evaluations by appointment only at Paws and Effect on Route 1 in Oswego on May 20. Members of the Oswego community who are interested in certifying their dog or cat to participate in PAWS of CNY’s pet therapy program are encouraged to submit an application to PAWS of CNY and book an appointment.
This is Sandy, the last of the Sweet 16, rescued from a collapsed house in Boylston. She’s best buds with Mittens, but he has found a home. She is a sweet old girl. Quite timid at first, but she will “demand” attention by lifting herself up to meet your down-stretched hand. And once she gets to know you, she’s a love.
