The town of Volney is having a contest of how many peanuts in the jar. Simple come to the town hall on County Route 6, Volney Center, to see the display and jar full of peanuts in the shell. Fill out the form with your name, phone number and guess. The closest guess will win the book, “History of Oswego County” 1816 – 2016.

Federal and State Law Enforcement Agencies Target Methamphetamine Traffickers and Producers

Interstate methamphetamine traffickers and local producers face federal and state charges in a series of cases that resulted in the arrests of 31 people in September. The suspects include more than a half dozen Oswego County residents. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt of the New York Division, Postal Inspector in Charge Shelly Binkowski, New York State Police Superintendent George P. Beach II and Tioga County District Attorney Kirk Martin.

Oswego Health Purchases Building to Expand Health Services

As Oswego Health renews its Behavioral Health Services facilities with assistance from a state grant for $13 million, it will also repurpose a long-time vacant commercial building. On Wednesday, September 27, Oswego Health reached an agreement to purchase the former Price Chopper building at 29 E. Cayuga St., in Oswego, and will completely transform the building to house renewed BHS inpatient and outpatient services, with plans to add more health services.
