Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski) was joined by New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino and members of the Assembly Republican Conference to call on Gov. Kathy Hochul to convene a special session of the Legislature to address the ongoing migrant crisis. The officials were joined by local leaders in College Point, Queens at the former St. Agnes Academic High School, a former Catholic high school that has been converted into a shelter for illegal migrants.

NYS Parole Board Must Consider Victims, Public Over Child Murderers

The New York State Board of Parole will be deciding two very important matters in the coming weeks, and I want to be clear how fervently the Assembly Minority Conference stands with the families of the victims of these heinous crimes. The two killers, Juan Peinado, who brutally murdered a 12-year-old boy in 1996, and George Acosta, who killed a police officer while out on parole, deserve to be locked up forever, plain and simple.

From Joe Biden’s failures at the southern border, to the empty “sanctuary” promises of Gov. Hochul and New York City Mayor Eric Adams, to the lack of communication and transparency at all levels of government, New York’s migrant crisis shows no signs of slowing down. No part of this emergency was handled properly, and the coming months will almost certainly bring more challenges for local officials and communities.

What Democrats say about creating fair and equitable elections in New York and what Democrats do regarding those elections are growing increasingly further apart. While claiming recent changes in election laws are to improve turnout and democracy in the state, it is clear the motivation behind many of these policies is to suit their agenda. The only thing worse than blatantly political-driven policy is doing so under the guise of democracy.
