Reported Lyme Disease Rates Increase in Pets

Area veterinarians have begun to test for Lyme disease in dogs and cats. At one Central New York veterinarian’s practice, 210 dogs and cats tested positive for Lyme Disease this year alone.

Child Abuse Agencies Assisting More Victims

Local child abuse agencies in Onondaga and Oswego counties have each reported that instances of child abuse are on the rise. Research and history shows that when families and heads of households struggle economically, instances of child abuse and domestic violence increase.

State Law Change Improves Military Voting

Earlier this month, our state law changed to improve voting opportunity and procedures for the military. I was pleased to support this legislation in the Assembly. The new law allows military to be able to cast their vote in a time frame which allows their ballot to be counted.
