Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the New York State Electric School Bus Roadmap and The Electric School Bus Guidebook to help New York P-12 schools transition bus fleets to zero-emission. These new resources provide school districts and bus operators with the technical and financial assistance necessary to remove fossil fuel vehicles from service and help reduce transportation emissions with a focus on disadvantaged communities and high-need school districts.

Governor Hochul Highlights Nearly $14 Million Available To Advance Innovation In Clean Hydrogen Research, Development, And Demonstration Projects

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced a nearly $14 million initiative to advance clean hydrogen research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) projects. The first round of funding makes up to $8 million available for projects that address the challenges of decarbonizing industrial process heat and advancing clean hydrogen production and renewable energy integration. Today’s announcement supports the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goals to reduce emissions 85 percent by 2050 and transition to 100 percent zero-emission electricity by 2040.

Governor Hochul Announces $12 Million To Advance Electric Vehicle Adoption And Integration With The Electric Grid

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced a $12 million initiative to support the development and demonstration of innovative, replicable solutions that advance electric vehicle adoption and the integration of electric vehicles with the electric grid. The initiative also seeks to support novel demonstrations of medium- and heavy-duty electric and hydrogen fuel cell technologies. In addition to supporting the State’s transition to zero-emission vehicles by 2035, today’s announcement advances the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act requirements to achieve a zero-emission electricity sector by 2040 and reduce emissions 85 percent by 2050.

Governor Hochul Announces Significant Federal Assistance To Reduce Clean-Energy Costs For New Yorkers

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, millions of New Yorkers will see a reduction in utility bills. The IRA funding will help support New York’s nuclear power plants to deliver zero emissions electricity for New Yorkers. The federal nuclear production tax credit, passed by Congress and signed by President Biden as part of the IRA, will provide significant financial support to the four operating nuclear reactors in New York and thereby reduce future payments by New York electric ratepayers to these facilities.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced $18 million is available under the Next Generation Buildings Innovation Challenges for projects that offer advanced building technologies for clean heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, building envelopes, and controls. Round seven includes a new challenge area to advance intelligent building control solutions, including the development and commercialization of technologies that manage energy assets and electrical loads that will further enable decarbonization and electrification. This announcement supports New York State’s nation-leading Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 85 percent by 2050.
