The world’s richest and longest Supermodified race is now the focus of the Shea Concrete Triple Crown Championship Series presented by ASI Racewear, as the cars and stars of the ultimate Supermodified championship begin preparations for the Budweiser International Classic 200 at Oswego Speedway.
Supermodified fans will be busy this week as the 12th Oswego Speedway Old-Timers Reunion will commence on Saturday, August 5, just a matter of hours before the speedway’s ‘Retro Night’ featuring a 45-lap Novelis Supermodified main event. The reunion, once again coordinated by Jim Laccardi and Jim Ferlito in 2017, will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lighthouse Lanes, located directly across from the Speedway on Jim Shampine Drive.
If you like race cars and lots of them, plus close door-to-door racing, then Fulton Speedway is the place to be this Saturday, August 5, when Regional Truck and Trailer presents a night of fast, family affordable fun dirt track racing. Pit is $27 participant, $30 nonparticipant. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
This edition, once again designed by ASI Racewear, will feature the all-time leader in speedway top fives and three time Budweiser International Classic 200 Champion; Joe Gosek. Gosek joins Jim Shampine, Steve Gioia Jr, Nolan Swift and Eddie Bellinger Jr as ‘HoF Legends’ to have their former race cars and faces printed on the popular series of speedway apparel.
Due to recently declining participation, the JB Logging & Firewood 4-Cylinder Class will be placed on a hiatus from weekly competition at Fulton Speedway effective today, August 1. The 4-Cylinders will return to Fulton Speedway for the JB Logging & Firewood 4-Cylinder Open scheduled for September 29 at the 32nd Outlaw 200 Weekend.
Larry Wight was a man on a mission Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway as he totally dominated the 35-lap Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified feature. Wight, started 10th and would only need 4-laps to take the lead. Once out front there was no slowing down Wight as he won by over four-seconds at the checkers for his fourth win in 2017.
Following a four-week long stretch of racing in the month of July which saw Novelis Supermodified and Pathfinder Bank SBS points leaders Dave Shullick Jr. and Dave Cliff extend their advantage approaching the championship homestretch in the month of August. Oswego Speedway will return to action on August 5.
