Oswego Speedway will open for its 67th consecutive season of racing action this Saturday, May, 13 with a triple header presented by Mitchell’s Speedway Press of Oswego featuring kickoff events for the Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank SBS as well as the Richie Evans Memorial 61 for the Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Asphalt Modifieds.
A chilly opening day and a rainy first week hasn’t halted the kickoff of the 2017 Little League baseball and softball season in Fulton. Players from all divisions gathered together last weekend to officially begin the season with help from league officials and the Syracuse Chiefs minor league baseball team mascot, Scooch. Roughly 280 participants from 23 teams ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old lined the first and third baselines of John Florek Field as Fulton Little League’s vice president, Dave Weber and president, Florek introduced the 15th season of Little League in Fulton.
We have two weeks remaining on our season with five games left on our schedule. We have two home games this week and an away game and all three games are league games.
Despite Oswego Speedway officials remaining optimistic and attempting to give this afternoon’s (May 6) open practice a go, saturated grounds and pesky rain showers have forced the track to postpone today’s test session to May 12.
With all the heavy rains we have received at the Fulton Speedway and more rain in the forecast speedway officials have cancelled Saturday, May 6, racing program. Racing will return on May 13 when Ferris Mowers & VP Small Engine Fuels presents a five star racing program.
In a combined effort with Supermodified car builder John Colloca, track owners John and Eric Torrese have put plans in place over the past several months to develop a prototype 350 Supermodified for testing at the Steel Palace. This beautiful racer is now complete at Colloca’s Oswego shop.
Side by side high speed racing action the Fulton Speedway is known for will return this Saturday night May 6, as Ferris Mowers presents American Diabetes of Central New York night.
Tonight we had too many unforced errors when we had the ball in our sticks and Cortland capitalized on them. This game was the most turnovers we have had this season and it allowed the host team to go to the goal too many times.
The wait is over. Oswego Speedway’s annual Open Practice session will be held this Saturday, May 6 from 1-5 p.m., with free admission to the speedway’s main grandstand. All divisions competing at the speedway in 2017 are eligible to take part in the four-hour-long track testing session, which pit gates will open for at 11:30 a.m.
