With most eyes focused throughout 2016 on championship combatants Dave Gruel, Michael Barnes and Otto Sitterly – third generation racer Mike Muldoon has quietly climbed into the third position of the Novelis Supermodified driver standings heading into this Saturday’s $5 admission track championship finale presented by Bosco’s Food Market and U-Pull U-Save Auto Parts.
The annual running of the Justin Lamb Memorial this Friday at Oswego Kartway will officially crown the Bullring’s 2016 track champions, as the regular season comes to a close. Drivers in 14 different divisions will clinch track championship titles on Friday night, with several classes coming down to the bitter end in their race for a coveted Kartway championship jacket.
The next time Joe Gosek flies under the green flag of an Oswego Speedway main event, he will have started the most Speedway feature events in track history, according to long-time Speedway historian and statistician Dave Rice. This Saturday’s $5 admission track championship special would be a fitting night to eclipse the current mark.
One of the Novelis Supermodified contenders aiming at the 2016 Oswego Speedway track championship as a part of this Saturday’s $5 admission track championship special presented by Bosco’s Food Market and U-Pull U-Save Auto Parts is seven-time Speedway champion Otto Sitterly of Canajoharie, NY. Despite scoring eight top five finishes in ten starts this season, Sitterly has yet to find Turning Stone Resort Casino Victory lane this year.
A severe thunderstorm, coupled with a line of showers expected to fill the evening, has forced Oswego Speedway officials to cancel tonight’s racing program which was scheduled to feature Twin 20 Pathfinder Bank SBS features and a 50-lap Novelis Supermodified main presented by CNY CPR and www.OswegoCountyToday.com. There will not be a make-up date for tonight’s events.
Mother Nature was not a race fan on Saturday, August 13 forcing track officials to cancel the racing program at the Fulton Speedway. Racing will return Saturday, August 20 when Ingles Performance and Syracuse Haulers present a night of exciting, faced paced, family, affordable night of dirt track racing.
Overall during the 2016 racing season Mother Nature has been kind to the Brewerton Speedway until today, Friday, August 12 with rain canceling the racing program. You still can get your racing in tomorrow Saturday, August 13 at the Fulton Speedway on $20 car load night and fan fest.
Both Davey Hamilton Sr. and Davey Hamilton Jr. will be in action this Saturday at Oswego Speedway in Novelis Supermodified competition. Hamilton Sr., the winner of the 1997 Budweiser International Classic 200, will make his first start of the season driving the John Nicotra Racing No. 6 Novelis Supermodified on August 13.
