After overwhelmingly hearing positive responses from fans in 2015, this Saturday, 13 grab your relatives, friends and neighbors and hop in your vehicle and head to the Fulton Speedway. Thanks to major marketing partner Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux admission is only $20 per car load for Fan Fest, and high speed dirt track racing. Single general admission is just $12 with pit admission $27.
Oswego Kartway’s second round of the Triple Crown took place last Friday with the RJ Kart Sales Battle at the Bullring. Perhaps the most excited racer at night’s end was young Kyle Devendorf, son of Novelis Supermodified racer Tim Devendorf, who won his first career main event on Friday in the Jr. Purple Clone division.
The first wave of entries have been filed for the Budweiser International Classic 200 at Oswego Speedway on September 4 with NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour veterans Ron Silk and Bobby Santos III looking to pull double duty on the weekend as they are slated to drive for the Graham Racing Supermodified stable.
The divisions first champion in 1992, Russ Brown had never won an SBS Classic heading into 1998 despite having moved on to become the Novelis Supermodified Rookie of the Year in 1994 as well as beginning to build a Busch Grand National North career. In 1997 Brown was the first driver across the line in the Classic event, but a tech infraction handed the win to Jeremy Unruh.
Only two events remain in Oswego Speedway’s 2016 Road to the Championship with this Saturday’s program highlighting Twin 20 Pathfinder Bank Small Block Super mains as well as a 50-lap Novelis Supermodified feature event presented by CNY CPR, www.OswegoCountyToday.com, and KROCK.
NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week is still racing’s biggest party as it moves to the historic Oswego Speedway. The format and schedule for NAPA Super Dirt Week will remain the same as previous years with on-track action every day from Oct. 5 through 9 at Oswego, as well as trips to Weedsport Speedway on Oct. 5, Brewerton Speedway on Oct. 6 and the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series at Fulton Speedway on Oct. 8.
In the 35-lap Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified feature, the majority of the race you could have thrown a blanket over the top four. Laps 33-34 saw Chad Phelps and Larry Wight go under the flag stand side by side with Phelps grabbing the win by a slim 00.159 at the checkers.
