The quality and variety of Oswego County’s exceptional fishing opportunities will be featured in several new episodes of “Fishing Behind the Lines” beginning March 14. Season 2 of “Fishing Behind the Lines” will be aired on the North Country’s public broadcasting station, WPBS-TV of Watertown, Mondays at 7:30 p.m. and rebroadcast Saturdays at 7 a.m.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team survived its second round contest of the NCAA Division III Championship 78-77 over Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday night in Mareitta College’s Ban Johnson Arena. With the win, the Lakers advance out of the second round and into the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team kept its composure in an overtime thriller in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship, walking away with an 88-78 victory over the Aggies of Delaware Valley University on Friday evening on Marietta College’s Fenton Court. Oswego awaits the winner of Marietta and Gwynedd Mercy University later on Friday.
The unofficial start to the 2016 Oswego Speedway racing season is set for March 12-13 with the annual Motorsports Expo at the Fairgrounds in Syracuse. Oswego Speedway will once again feature a multi-car display at the Expo, highlighting both the Novelis Supermodified and Pathfinder Bank Small Block Super divisions.
Kaleb Higgins from Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District was a recipient of the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award, Central New York Chapter, recently. The Fulton Force elite traveling baseball team is preparing for its third season after finishing last year with four tournament championships and a 19-3 record. Bringing its two-year total to a 35-9 record with five tournament titles, three second place finishes and two third place.

The Radical Race Gear Lap Leader award will return to Oswego Speedway’s Novelis Supermodified division in 2016, with an added bonus awarded to the overall yearend lap leader. Since 2014, Radical Race Gear has provided a $100 gift certificate to the weekly lap leader in the Novelis Supermodified division.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to No. 2 Cortland 77-74 in the SUNYAC Championship title game on Saturday in Plattsburgh’s Memorial Hall. Oswego (20-8) will now await the NCAA Division III Selection Show at 12:30 p.m. on Monday to learn its tournament fate.
