The Oswego State women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime tie at Fredonia on Friday afternoon. It is the Lakers’ third straight game going into double overtime and the fourth double overtime game in five SUNYAC contests this season.
The Oswego State men’s soccer team fell to Fredonia on Friday afternoon at home by a score of 1-0. With the loss, the Lakers move to 2-8-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in the conference.
Oswego Speedway, the home of the Budweiser International Classic 200 and Supermodified racing, has also been a home away from home for some of Canada’s top short track open-wheel competitors. Beginning in 2015, young Brockville, Ontario native Logan Rayvals will open his chapter in a long standing Canadian story at Oswego, coming in as a Supermodified rookie with a familiar name.
The State University of New York Athletic Conference has named Oswego State field hockey goalie Sarita Charap its Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 5, 2014. This is the second time the freshman has earned the recognition in just six weeks. In the Lakers’ only game during the week, Charap held host Keystone College scoreless.
The Oswego State athletic department’s community service program has been recognized in the Athletics category by the State University of New York Chief Student Affairs Officers and the Office of University Life. Oswego received the acknowledgement at the Outstanding Student Affairs Program Awards on Monday, Oct. 6, in Saratoga Springs.
The final event of Oswego Speedway’s debut programming series with Speed Sport and MAVTV will air Thursday at 8 p.m. featuring the 58th running of the Budweiser International Classic 200 for Novelis Supermodifieds, which took place on Labor Day Weekend. Thursday’s show will be the first national broadcast of Supermodified racing’s richest and most prestigious event

Matt Sheppard lived up to his nickname ‘Super Matt’ Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway winning his first ever Sunoco Fulton Ethanol Facility Outlaw 200 presented by SUNY Canton. Sheppard took the lead from early leader Billy Decker on lap-23 and from there would never give up the top spot over the final 177 laps.
