The Oswego State men’s basketball team clinched the No. 4 seed in the SUNYAC Championship with a 78-76 overtime win over host Cortland on Saturday afternoon. Oswego’s win improved its conference mark to 10-8 while Cortland fell to 9-9, earning the No. 5 seed and setting up a rematch between the two teams at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night in Max Ziel Gymnasium.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team wrapped the 2013-14 regular season with a 2-0 loss to No. 1 Plattsburgh on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Ice Arena. The Oswego State men’s basketball team knocked off No. 14 Brockport 95-83, handing the Golden Eagles just the third loss of the season in dominating fashion. With the win, Oswego improves to 15-9 on the season and 9-8 in the SUNYAC while the Golden Eagles fall 20-3, 14-2.
The Oswego State women’s basketball team fell 51-50 in heartbreaking fashion to Brockport in its final home game of the regular season. With the loss, Oswego falls to 6-18 overall and 2-15 in the SUNYAC while the Golden Eagles improve to 9-14, 5-11.
The Oswego High boys’ hockey team squares off in Section III semifinal action at 7 tonight (Feb. 18) at Fort Ontario in a game with Skaneateles.
Oswego’s 2-0 weekend has large implications on ECAC West standings as the Lakers now sit four points ahead of Potsdam with one weekend left in the regular season. The women currently sit in third place with 21 points as Plattsburgh and Elmira are in a tie for first with 26 points apiece.
