Casey Balzer (Sr., Nassau, N.Y.) scored a career-high five games to lift the Oswego State men’s lacrosse team to a 15-10 victory over Oneonta on a cold, windy Saturday afternoon at South Athletic Field. The Lakers also benefited from three goals and three assists from Nick Giampaolo (Jr., Setauket, N.Y.).

The Oswego State women’s lacrosse team (6-7, 3-3 SUNYAC) rallied behind the performance of goalie Nikki Greco (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) to pull out the win in a 5-4 affair over Brockport (10-5, 4-3) on a cold Saturday afternoon.

The members of the newest Oswego High School Athletic Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Buc Booster Club, will appear at halftime on Saturday at the girl’s varsity lacrosse game at Wilber Field.After the game the inductees will move to the induction ceremony at the new conference center on East First Street, across from the Press Box.

The Oswego State softball team (9-13) notched its second doubleheader sweep of the season after defeating SUNYIT (10-8), 7-4 and 4-2, Thursday afternoon.

John Mackie (Jr., Bellport, N.Y.) fired a round of 80 to earn medalist honors by four strokes and help the Oswego State men’s golf team win the Keuka Spring Invitational with a team score of 340 on Thursday at the Lakeside Country Club.

In preparation for Opening Week at Oswego Speedway coming May 4-11, “The Steel Palace” is opening its gates April 27 for an open test session from 5-10 p.m. The test sessions, which are open to any racing division on the 2013 Oswego schedule, will admit race fans for free into the grandstand.

The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team (6-6) fell behind early, and the Lakers were never able to completely erase their deficit in a 9-6 loss to St. John Fisher (9-4) Wednesday afternoon. Despite owning a 13-4 advantage on faceoffs, Oswego State managed just 16 shots on goal and went 0-for-6 in man-up situations.

Struggling to score runs throughout the afternoon, the Oswego State baseball team (13-12, 6-6 SUNYAC) dropped both games of a home doubleheader to Cortland (28-3, 9-3), 4-0 and 5-2. The Lakers remain in fourth place in the conference standings with just a half-game lead over Oneonta.

The Oswego State women’s lacrosse team (5-6, 2-3 SUNYAC) capitalized on free-position plays, both offensively and defensively, to stay in the conference playoff race by defeating Potsdam (4-7, 1-4 SUNYAC), 15-9, on a rainy Tuesday afternoon at South Athletic Field.
