It turned out to be a memorable senior night for the Oswego varsity boys’ basketball team while the Lady Bucs basketball squad preps for post season play and one Buc wrestler came home third in championship mat action.

Oswego State men’s ice hockey player Chris Brown (Centreville, Ont.) has been named the SUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending February 10, 2013.

One night after Bobby Gertsakis (So., Pickering, Ontario) scored his first collegiate goal he wasted no time scoring the second and third to help the No. 2/5 Oswego State men’s ice hockey team (20-3-0, 13-1-0 SUNYAC) skate past Fredonia (7-14-3, 5-8-2) Saturday night.

After sticking with the third-ranked team in the nation Friday night, the Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (10-10-1, 8-6-0 ECAC West) lost to Elmira (20-3-1, 14-2-0), 6-0, Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

The Oswego State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed at the Geneseo Invitational on Saturday in their final competition leading up to the SUNYAC Championships.

Senior Blake Fisher (Seaford, N.Y.) recorded another win at 157 pounds combined with a Red Dragon forfeit, but it was not enough as Cortland, ranked third nationally in Division III, posted a 37-9 victory over the Lakers.

Cold shooting from the Oswego State men’s basketball team (16-6, 9-6 SUNYAC) combined with a solid Cortland (19-3, 13-2) offensive performance resulted in a 78-46 Laker loss Friday night.

Senior goalie Andrew Hare (Burlington, Ontario) tallied 18 saves for his school-record 10th career shutout as the No. 2/5 Oswego State men’s ice hockey team (19-3-0, 12-1-0 SUNYAC) skated to a 4-0 win at Buffalo State Friday night.

The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (10-10-1, 8-5-0 ECAC West) made a late charge in the third period, but came up short in a 2-0 loss to third-ranked Elmira (19-3-1, 13-2-0) Friday night at the Campus Center Arena.
