According to Burritt, the four-week class, which is free and open to the public, will provide parents with an interactive learning experience that covers a variety of issues that are of utmost importance when raising a newborn.

Topics that will be discussed include:

  • Basic baby care
  • How to keep your baby safe
  • How to bond with your baby
  • Why taking care of yourself is important
  • Child development and milestones

“We are pleased to be able to once again offer this workshop,” said Burritt. “We have been offering parenting classes for children ages 1 through 18 for several years and introduced this new workshop series for parents of newborns this year. We have received some very positive feedback on these workshops and are looking forward to welcoming parents for our next workshop that begins June 22. I encourage parents with children 1 year of age or less to attend this workshop.”

The workshop will be held on four consecutive Tuesdays beginning June 22 and continuing through July 13.

All sessions will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Phoenix Discovery Day Care, 80 County Route 59.

Burritt and intensive parent educator Amy Knox will facilitate the workshop.
