Hannibal’s varsity girls basketball team captured the Section III, Class B-2 championship Tuesday night with a 64 – 51 win over Skaneateles.
The Warriors trailed for the first three quarters. They were down 3 points after the first period, 2 points at halftime, and one point at the end of three quarters.
But the team put on a show of force in the final quarters, outscoring the Lakers 25 – 9 to pull away.
Allie Taylor led all scorers with 23 points. Tayler Sorrell added 19 and exchange student Karolina Severova scored 14 points.
The win was particularly sweet for Hannibal because Skaneateles beat the Warriors twice this season.
Hannibal plays for the overall Class B championship Friday night at the Carrier Dome against B-1 champ South Jefferson, which knocked off top-seeded Westhill after Hannibal’s game.
