A View of History: Oswego’s Old Public Market Building

From the Library of Congress’s collection, five views of the former Public Market Building along the Oswego River in Oswego.

The photos were taken in the 1960s and appear to show the strip of buildings that front Bridge St. and end with Old City Hall.

NOTE: We were in error with this item when it was first published. We used the Library of Congress’s own information about the date of the photos, but longtime reader Mike Gibson, who ran his videography business out of that building for a long time, points out that the photos are surely from a renovation in the 1960s.

  1. THIS makes one appreciate what Larry of Old City have done for the place. Our history has been better preserved (although I think a lot of work could still benefit this, one of our very oldest buildings).
