OSWEGO, NY – Dozens of representatives from a number of Oswego County’s human services agencies came together recently for the third annual Oswego County Youth Program Forum.
Held Oct. 27 at the Elks Lodge, the event served as an opportunity for youth service providers to share information on their programs and learn more about other youth programs that exist in Oswego County.
Planning Committee Member and Director of the Oswego City / County Youth Bureau, Kathy Fenlon praised the event.
“This was a wonderful opportunity for youth services providers to come together and present the many different types of programs available for youth in Oswego County,†she said.
Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County, Melanie Trexler, who is also a member of the planning committee, was pleased with the turnout and the interaction that took place during the forum.
“The Youth Forum was an excellent example of our human services agencies working together to help achieve a common good…helping our youth and their families. More than 30 different programs were represented as staff members spoke about the youth services offered through their agency and distributed information about accessing the program and the benefits that it provides. This kind of collaboration truly demonstrates our Live United concept that we are all connected,†said Trexler.
Committee member and County Director for the Youth Advocate Program of Oswego County, Dave Canfield recognized the Elks for providing the venue for the event.
“On behalf of the numerous agencies represented at the Youth Forum, I would like to thank the Elks Club of Oswego. The generosity of the Elks members in allowing this event to take place in their facility helps to support the agencies’ efforts to work cooperatively for the betterment of our youth. It is an honor to be a partner with them in order to assist our youth of today in becoming productive adults of tomorrow,” he said.
