Join Independence Trail Clean-Up May 16

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Youth Bureau partners with Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo and CiTi BOCES to host an Endangered Species Day Clean-Up at Independence Trail. The event runs from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 16.

“We’re grateful to our partners at Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo and CiTi BOCES for helping us clean up Independence Trail as part of Endangered Species Day,” said Oswego County Youth Bureau Executive Director Brian Chetney. “It’s important to protect our at-risk species, and this is the perfect opportunity for kids and the community to get involved. I hope everyone will join us as we work together to make a difference and preserve the environment for those that inhabit it.”

Endangered Species Day is an annual effort to celebrate and learn about threatened and endangered species and take action to protect them. Cleaning Independence Trail and its surrounding lakeshore will help bog turtles and other species thrive in their natural environment.

Independence Trail is located off NYS Routes 104A and 1A in Scriba, adjacent to Sithe Energies Station. To view a trail map, visit https://youthbureau.oswegocounty.com/parks_recreation/independence_trail/index.php
