OSWEGO – Marie Schadt (D) has announced she will be seeking re-election as Legislator for Oswego County’s 19th District.
Schadt has served as legislator since 2014 and is looking forward to continuing to have a positive impact on Oswego County and lives of those that live here. During her tenure Schadt was instrumental in a number of improvements to the county’s infrastructure and has been a strong and effective voice in county government for those in the 19th district and beyond.
“In the recent years funding has been secured for the Minetto sewage treatment plan, a brownfield assessment has been done along the river, four bridges have been improved and more than 16 miles of road repaved. Additionally I helped secure ARPA funding for the Town of Oswego sewer project,” said Schadt.
While projects such as these is one way of improving the quality of life in Oswego County; Schadt is steadfast about lowering the tax burden as well and serving as an advocate for the taxpayers of Oswego County and the 19th district.
“With an eye on fiscal responsibility I have, and will continue to, fight for the taxpayers,” said Schadt. “We desperately need to keep an eye on wasteful spending; unnecessarily increasing the size of departments; payment in lieu taxes agreements and other concessions create a long term burden on taxpayers that needs to be decreased.
As legislator I will insist that government needs to focus on making decisions that are in the best interest of the tax payer. “I will not back down to the status quo. I am dedicated to serving my constituents and will continue to do so in the future,” said Schadt.
