OSWEGO COUNTY – New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) will mark its 100th anniversary in 2025, and Oswego County is getting ready to help celebrate the milestone.

“The centennial anniversary of NYSAC is a momentous occasion and we’re proud and excited to celebrate with them,” said Oswego County Administrator and NYSAC President-Elect Philip Church. “The organization has been an invaluable resource to counties, consistently advocating on our behalf and ensuring that local governments have a place at the table with state and federal leaders.”

Organized in 1925, NYSAC is the only statewide association that represents the interests of all 62 counties and the five boroughs of New York City. The bipartisan organization represents counties at the state and federal levels and works to foster excellence in county governance and unite the voices of county leaders.

“NYSAC’s dedication to public service has had a profound impact on the well-being of New York State’s counties,” Church added. “The association provides us with opportunities for collaboration and partnership as we address common challenges and work toward advancing shared goals.”

NYSAC works closely with local officials, providing them with training, education and research on public policy, and enabling them to have the necessary tools to deliver efficient and effective services to constituents. Each year, the organization holds a spring legislative conference and a fall seminar, offering numerous workshops and webinars to help educate members on topics of interest and importance to counties.

Among other resources, members also participate in the NYSAC County Government Institute, (CGI) a certification and education program for county officials that educates leaders on the pillars of good government, including leadership, integrity and accountability.
