APW Elementary School Hosts Exploration Night

Exploration Night at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School inspired students and their family members to explore more, discover more and learn more.

The event was a celebration of literacy and featured several demonstrations, displays and hands-on activities that aimed at making learning and trying new things fun and fascinating.

Guests participated in activities that applied Isaac Newton’s Laws of Motion; discovered more about nature and the environment; experienced life in Oswego County as an early settler; practiced Yoga poses; learned how to train dogs; and took an out-of-this-world adventure in a Star Lab.

Exploration Night was organized by the school’s Parent-Teacher-Student Association and coordinated with the support of PES staff members and volunteers and served as the kick-off for Parents as Reading Partners.

Learning to read is the single most important activity in a child’s education.

PARP is a program aimed at letting parents join in the fun of fostering a child’s love of reading and learning.

This year’s PARP program will culminate on May 1 with a school-wide Learning Fair where the students will be showcasing projects that they created about topics that they find interesting.
